When a phone passes 90% of its package's storage you get a notice, at most once a day per phone. Android gets unhappy well before a disk is actually full, so it is worth acting on.
See what is using it
The Files screen shows the split between apps, media and everything else, and the Resources card on the phone's screen shows the total. Apps are usually the bulk: a game's downloaded assets, a messaging app's media, a browser's cache.
Freeing space
- On the phone, as on any Android device: uninstall apps you no longer use, clear an app's cache from its settings, delete downloads.
- Move things off with Save from phone in the file browser, then delete them on the phone. Moving files, screenshots and clipboard text.
- Screenshots you took through the app are saved on the phone. Save the ones you want and delete the rest.
Moving up a package
A package is fixed for the life of the phone, so more storage means a bigger phone. Rent one, copy across what you need with the file browser, and let the old one go, either by deleting it or by turning off auto-renew and letting it lapse. Which package should I pick? lists the sizes.
"Not measured" is not zero. If the storage figure shows a dash, the phone could not report it at that moment, usually because it is off or mid-restart. It comes back once the phone is online.
