A coupon code goes in on the review step when you create a phone or extend one. The app checks it straight away and shows the price before and after, so nothing is charged until you can see what the code does.
Two kinds of discount
- First payment only. The code discounts what you pay today; the phone then renews at the full price. The review step says "renews at" the full amount.
- Every renewal. The discount applies again at each renewal, as a percentage or an amount off whatever the package costs then. The phone's Subscription row shows the code and the discount beside the renewal price for as long as it applies.
Codes are not case-sensitive, and spaces around them are ignored. A coupon can bring a purchase down to nothing, in which case no card is charged at all; it never turns into a payout.
Why a code might not work

| Not applicable | The code is for a different package or term, needs a longer term, or is for a first purchase and this account has bought before. |
| Already used | This account has used the code as many times as it allows. |
A code is checked again at the moment of payment. If it stopped being valid between the review step and confirming, the app shows the same message and nothing is charged.
The invoice for a discounted payment shows the code and the amount taken off, so the receipt matches what you saw.
