Transferring a phone to another account

Handing a phone over for good: who can receive it, what goes with it, and what does not.

Last updated 2026-09-05

A transfer hands the whole phone to another account for good: its files, its apps, and everything signed into it. It is not sharing. Once the other person accepts, you have no access to the phone at all.

Who can receive one

The recipient must already have a Skyro Cloud account with a verified email address. A share can go to an address that has never signed up; a transfer cannot, because a typo must not be able to give someone's phone to an inbox nobody has proved they own. If the address has no verified account, the app says so, and it says the same whether the address is unknown or merely unverified.

Making the offer

  1. Open the phone's settings and choose Transfer

Enter the recipient's email address and, if you like, a short message.

  2. They have seven days

The offer appears in their app and by email. You can cancel it at any point before they accept. One offer per phone at a time; the app says "there is a transfer pending" if you try a second.

  3. They accept, and the phone is theirs

You are told when they accept or decline. If nobody acts within seven days the offer lapses and both of you are told.

The phone has to be paid up

A phone whose term has expired, or whose renewal payment has failed and is being retried, cannot be transferred. Otherwise the previous owner's payment problem would land on the new owner's account. Renew or settle the payment first.

What goes with it, and what does not

Goes with the phoneDoes not
Everything on it: files, apps, signed-in accountsYour payment method; the new owner adds their own
Its name, package, region and Android versionAuto-renew, which is switched off for them to opt into
The rest of the paid termThe shares you granted, which are revoked
The egress proxy and its credentials, which are deleted
The preview picture of the screen, which is deleted

Any viewer you had open closes at the moment of acceptance. The receiving account's own limits apply, so a recipient who is already at their device limit cannot accept until they make room.

There is no undo. Once accepted, the phone belongs to the other account. If you need it back, they can transfer it to you the same way.

Receiving a phone

An offer made to you shows in the app with the phone's name, package, region and Android version and who it is from. Accept it and the phone appears in your Devices tab with its remaining term. Set up how it should be paid for from then on under its Subscription row, and turn auto-renew on if you want it to continue. Deleting a phone, or letting its term lapse, cancels any offer that was waiting on it.
