Cloud, Pro and Gaming phones can be rooted from the app. Lite cannot: the option does not appear on it.
Turning it on
On the phone's screen in the app, the Root access row shows On or Off. Tap it to change it while the phone is online or powered off. The switch takes a moment to apply, and a notification confirms the change. Root is per phone; it does not affect your other phones.
What it changes
- Apps that ask for root can get it, the way they would on a rooted physical phone.
- Apps that check for root may refuse to run, or refuse specific features. Banking and payment apps are the usual ones, on top of the checks they already make against a cloud phone. Turn root off again if an app you need starts objecting.
What it does not change
Root is inside the phone. It does not give access to our servers, to other phones, or to anything outside the phone's own isolated environment, and it does not change what the phone can reach on the network.
You are responsible for what runs as root. A tool with root can damage the phone's system in ways a factory reset will fix, but nothing short of that will.
